8x Grammy-nominated Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has announced details of a Spring 2019 headline tour in support of their critically acclaimed ninth studio LP, “Thank You for Today.” The band’s North American dates begin Friday, March 29 in Las Vegas at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and continue through April. Death Cab for Cutie pre-sales begin Wednesday, December 5 at 10 a.m. All remaining tickets will be released to the general public on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. For complete details, please visit deathcabforcutie.com.
Released in August, “Thank You for Today” was widely celebrated by press, with NPR heralding: “For a band in its third decade… Death Cab hasn’t lost its gift for pairing Gibbard’s soft ruminations with propulsive arrangements that know just when to sparkle and sway.” The album – which includes the chart-topping debut single “Gold Rush” and current single “Northern Lights” – is available now at all music retailers and streaming services. After cracking the Top 20 at Adult Alternative radio, “Northern Lights” continues to ascend the Modern Rock charts. Continuing a run of high-profile TV performances, the band recently performed the track on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” following appearances on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
The tour announcement comes accompanied by a remix of “Summer Years” from none other than Ben Gibbard’s Postal Service bandmate Jimmy Tamborello. In his first-ever remix of a Death Cab for Cutie song, Tamborello infuses the track with a pulsating beat and his characteristic electronic elements.
